My little sister is GRADUATING!!!!!!!!

Julia May Glassman this post is for you. In  1994 my little sister Julia May Glassman was born. I am sure I was ready to be a big brother. Now tomorrow June 19th 2012 Julia Glassman is going to be graduating from high school. She will officially be a Redmond High School Alumni. I can not express in words how proud of her I am. She has truly been the best little sister I could have ever asked for. Whether it is saying something silly to make me laugh or being the give me a hug when I need one. Julia has truly been a class act in the 18 years I have had the pleasure of spending with her. In her senior year she joined the swim team after not swimming for four years but she got back in the water and did an amazing job. She was awarded with best hair on the team. A pretty prestigious award among the Redmond High women's swimming team. Julia you and I have had an awesome childhood and I am so happy we are close. In the fall Julia will be attending Eastern Washington University. She will be majoring in Elementary Education. I love you Julia Glassman and I am so proud of you. This one is for you.

The College World Series

It is officially the best time of the year.  Let me explain why. It is the beginning of the College World Series.  This is an opportunity for many young men much like myself to be able to go out and achieve greatness and a title that not many other collegiate athletes can say they have attained. As a baseball fan myself I am rooting for two teams this year.  First for the program from Stony Brook University.  The Seawolves have had an amazing journey this season and are an inspiration to smaller programs throughout the country.  This season the Seawolves posted an amazing home record at 22-1, and an away record of 24-10 and a neutral record of 6-2 make their overall record 52-13. No too shabby for a program coming out of the American East Conference.  I personally believe that the biggest triumph so far for the Stony Brook ball club came in the Super Regional round playing against Louisiana State University (LSU). LSU were clear favorites due to their immaculate resume in college baseball. The program has appeared in the World Series 15 times coming our with 6 World Series titles. They are by far considered one of the best programs in all of college baseball.  But this season their fate would be to fall to the Stony Brook Seawolves in the Super Regional. Stony Brook originally began in DIII baseball, meaning that this was more than just an amazing upset but it has officially put Stony Brook on the map as a possible upset contender for the World Series. In game one of the Super Regional round Stony Brook and LSU battled for 12 innings and even suffered a rain delay that ran the game into the next day only to have LSU come out on top 5-4. But in game two the Seawolves would show their true ability. Kevin Courtney went deep off of Kevin Gausman who was a top round pick in this year's Major League draft by the Baltimore Orioles. In game three of the series the Seawolves steamrolled the LSU Tigers winning by a margin of 7-2. In their first game at the College World Series the Seawolves will face off against the #1 seeded UCLA Bruins. The Bruins swept their Super Regional against TCU (Texas Christian University). This will for sure be an extremely tough test for this almost Cinderella story ball club. But as history has shown time and time again the underdog does not always lose.
The other team I will be rooting for are the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Gamecocks have won an astonishing 21 NCAA postseason games in a row. Winning the last two World Series titles dating back to 2010. The Gamecocks started their season slow but picked up the pace down the stretch. You could say they are clear favorites to win again but their first game is coincidentally against the #1 ranked team in the country the Florida Gators. The Gators had a great season as well. This game is actually a repeat of last seasons World Series Final round match up. Last year the gamecocks swept the Gators so it is safe to say that the Gators are out for revenge having an older more mature club. With players like Mike Zunino the catcher for the Gators. This shall definitely be an interesting first game.
As a baseball fanatic I know that my time this weekend will be spent watching the College World Series in hopes of watching an upset or watching history. But for now all we can do is speculate until tomorrow evening when the first pitch is thrown. Who is your team?

Griz Nation!

Hello, welcome to Griz Nation! I am very proud to call this blog my own.  I wanted to take the time to explain it.  This blog is place for people to e-mail me their questions and comments for topics of discussion.  If you e-mail me with a question I will be happy to answer it on my blog as long as it is a clean question.  Nothing dirty or crude please.  I will also post about things I find interesting and intriguing.  This first one is going to be rather short but alas I have no idea how to begin other than simply getting the word out to everyone.  Thank you all for the support and for reading the ramblings of a college student who sometimes has good ideas or points to make.
